Services
Energy modelling for NBC 9.36 code conformance: modern building codes often require energy modelling and performance projections. We can provide feedback on assemblies, window to wall ratios and mechanical equipment as it relates to code requirements. Once a design has been finalized the necessary documentation can be provided for building permits.
Vancouver Pre-Permit Checklist: We can provide the energy modelling and documentation for the energy portion of your permit application for the City of Vancouver.
Energuide Reports: we provide Energuide reports which can be used for feedback on home improvements and energy saving strategies. Additionally, Energuide reports can be used to help reduce mortgage insurance costs. Many insurers offer a 25% refund for homes that go through the Energuide process and meet the insurer’s requirements*. The following are some of the insurers and their programs:
Sagen Energy Efficient Housing Program
*Confirm with your insurer the requirements of the program.
Net Zero Energy Certification: For single family new homes targeting high levels of performance we provide assistance with Built Green’s Net Zero Energy+ certification. A house conforming with this certification will require low amounts of energy to function while simultaneously producing an equivalent amount of energy.
Net Zero Ready: Similar to Net Zero, Ready indicates that the home performs at a level where zero net energy could be achieved if alternative energy sources were installed.
*Net Zero and Net Zero ready both qualify for the RBC Green Mortgage program.
Building air leakage testing: achieving high levels of air tightness helps reduce energy use and reduce potential moisture related issues. We can provide mid and final construction air leakage testing. Mid-construction air leakage testing includes leak tracking and feedback for builders and designers. Final air leakage reporting can be included as part of final energy model report or as a specific report.
Duct air leakage testing: like the buildings that contain them, ducts are also air sealed. Ensuring that air leakage is within acceptable limits is important for ensuring the proper function of HVAC systems. Various certifications such as LEED require this testing.
Mission
It is our objective to provide quality feedback to help builders, homeowners and designers build great building upgrade existing homes and achieve performance targets. We look forward to working with you.
